PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. There are five core behavioral principles of PBIS at Lawndale High School. Each of the five core values (ROCKS) helps the students to recognize what our school wide expectations are for their behavior while at school. There are banners in all areas at Lawndale High School’s campus . They cover the areas of School Grounds, Hallways, Bathrooms, Lunch Areas, Computer Labs, Parking Lots, and Locker-rooms. Our ROCKS provide the values, guides the students, and makes them aware of the appropriate behaviors for interacting with teachers, security officers, staff, and other students. When a student is engaging in negative behaviors and not following all of the ROCKS behavioral expectations there will be interventions and preventions for them through their teachers, the Dean of Students, and the Associate Principals. Students are also recognized when they demonstrating positive behaviors. PBIS is a team based school-wide/district wide program for discipline that includes all students and staff in our high schools within CVUHSD.
