-The 10 campuses of the University of California provide environments that foster world-class educational and research opportunities. UC is also actively involved in locations beyond its campuses, national laboratories, medical centers and neighboring communities — in places throughout California , around the world and online. The top 12.5% of high school students are eligible to apply to the UC system.

Admission Requirements:

a.   A-G College Prep Requirements

b.   Minimum 3.00 college weighted GPA

c.   Involvement in extracurricular activities (clubs, sports) and community service

d.   Take the SAT or ACT and 2 SAT Subject tests

e.   Taking AP and Honors classes will STRONGLY help your chances for admission to a UC (give you an extra point in your college weighted GPA for every Honors/AP class you pass with a C or better)

f.     Understand that some UC’s are more competitive than others- -

·        UCLA, UC Berkeley- only accept about 23% of students that apply

·        UC San Diego accepts up to 40% of students that apply

·        UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis- accept up to 50% of students that apply

·        UC Riverside, UC Merced, and UC Santa Cruz accept up to 75% of students that apply

With 23 campuses, 405,000 students, and 44,000 faculty and staff the California State University is the largest, the most diverse, and one of the most affordable university systems in the country. CSU’s are the gateway institutions for the great majority of students seeking a baccalaureate education in California, and for those who seek professional training as teachers, nurses, social workers, and engineers. The top 33% of high school students are eligible to apply to the CSU System.

The 75 independent, nonprofit California colleges and universities offer diverse educational opportunities for over 240,000 students. They can be located in every type of region from urban to rural. Whether it is the academic focus (comprehensive, liberal arts, research) or specialized (e.g. health care, performing & visual arts) or characteristics of the student body (faith affiliated, women's colleges or international affiliates) these institutions have truly unique identities. Please note-There are some private vocational/career colleges that do not have accreditation- Which means that if you take classes at their schools, you cannot transfer these credits to a UC, CSU, CC, or to other private schools.

This system of two-year public institutions, composed of 109 colleges serves more than 2.5 million students and represents the largest system of higher education in the world

Admission Requirements:

·        Be a graduate from high school or be 18 Years of age (high school students can also take classes at a community college)

·        No college entrance exams required; college placement exams to enroll in certain courses are administered

Students can choose to work toward an associate (two-year) degree in hundreds of academic and technical fields, or a one- or two-year training/certificate program in a choice of occupational fields, such as health professions, and high-technology.

Students may also complete course-work to enable them to transfer to a college or university (UC, CSU, or Private University ) to complete a baccalaureate degree (BS or BA).
