Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year at Lawndale High School where “There are no limits to our Accomplishments”.  My name is Vicente Bravo, Principal of Lawndale High School and together with Associate Principals Ms. Jennifer Garcia and Ms. Kelly Santos, our teachers and all of our staff, we would like to extend an invitation to each of you to become an active part of your student’s high school experience.  This year we will continue to focus on providing more avenues for parents to become informed about the resources at LHS and hope to include more parent volunteers and bring their talents, ideas, knowledge and support directly onto campus for the benefit of all the Cardinal students.

Within section one of the enclosed Parent Notification Handbook are the policies, rules, consequences, and procedures that are in place this year at Lawndale High School.  Please read them carefully with your student and refer to them throughout the year.   By familiarizing yourself with this information, you can help support the school’s effort of establishing and maintaining an academic learning environment free of distractions.

Students can not learn when they are not in class which is why we will be focusing our efforts in making sure that we communicate with you frequently in order to address absences, truancies and tardiness problems in a timely manner.  As such, pay very close attention to the Cardinal’s Tardy Policy and the Attendance and Activity Participation Policy since tardies and truancies will directly affect a student’s ability to take advantage of all the extra-curricular opportunities that Lawndale H.S. has to offer.  Saturday School Detention and After School Community Service will be added to the list of progressive disciplinary consequences that a student may receive.    With your help, our students will be well informed and be able to avoid situations that will result in any disciplinary action.

I look forward to working with you in order to have a successful year both academically and socially for our students, the Cardinals of Lawndale High School.

Sincerely,

Vicente Bravo, Principal
