The Academy of Cinematic Arts had an eventful year. Students from Mr. Mir’s US History through film class participated in the National History Day competition in Los Angeles March 4th. They were able to create a presentation that incorporated CTE principles. One student completed a documentary about the Mexican Integration of African Americans into the Mexican Baseball League. Another student created a website about women who revolutionized American literature, and the last student created a poster board about Henrietta Lacks.
Cinematic Practicum and Animation Practicum students attended the Grid Summit on March 1st at the Beehive in Los Angeles with Mr. Love, Mr. Clark, and Mr. Goin. They were able to meet with industry partners and participated in Film, Animation, Video Games, and Music workshops.
In April, the ACA practicum students visited Sony Pictures Studios and Warner Bros Studios, where they toured the facilities. They also collaborated with Leuzinger High School’s MCA and Mr. Hiller, recording movies at South Coast Botanic Garden.
Currently, they are working on their short films, which they will present at Lawndale’s Fine Arts Night and the ACA awards night. Here are photos from their movie set and filming.
